Nylon Pool
Tobago, Trinidad and TobagoThough not a beach in the traditional sense, the Nylon Pool is a naturally formed sandbank nestled in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, just off Tobago’s west coast. This shallow, crystal-clear “pool” offers perfect conditions for swimming and snorkelling. It earned its name from Princess Margaret, who remarked that the water was “as clear as her nylon stockings.” Steeped in local legend, the Nylon Pool is said to hold mystical properties. Swimming in its waters is believed to make you look ten years younger, and couples who share a kiss beneath the surface are said to be blessed with everlasting love.
