About
The Tambrin is Tobago’s indigenous drum, born from the resilience of enslaved Africans who crafted it from simple materials after their original instruments were taken. Today, it is made from Latan or Wild Cassava wood and goat skin, producing both sharp and deep rhythmic tones.
Used in weddings, christenings, and celebrations, a Tambrin band features instruments like the Cutter, Roller, Boom, Fiddle, and Triangle, creating the heartbeat of Tobago’s cultural traditions.
